Friday Matinee - Super Hit Pavada

Shift of release date of Action Hero Biju is going to change the fortunes some of the existing films drastically but at the same time we may have flood of release of Mollwood in next week. Let us find the fortunes of Top 5 movies

Kerala Top 5 movies as on  29/01/2016

1.Pavada
Undoubtedly it is a Super Hit now. The extended weekend due to Republic holiday helps to improve its collection to superb level. Collections were more than a 1 Cr at least for Sunday and Tuesday. At the same time it is showing large drop from Wednesday onward probably due to surcharged political atmosphere in Kerala. Collects around 10.70 Cr with around 5,500 shows in two week which is fantastic. One more fruitful weekend on cards. Prithviraj is the most successful hero of the present time.

2. Two Countries
This Dileep starrer is unstoppable at box office due to strong family audience support. If Nivin Paulys Bju fails this movie has every chance of getting near to 40 Cr as repeated audience stabilizes its box office chance bright. Collects around 29.80 Cr in 35 days with 12,400 shows. All time block buster for sure with one more weekend of unchallenged supremacy.

3. Charlie
If you see striking rate of the movie it is real wonder. Even after reducing shows and screens this Dulquar special refused to bulge at box office, added nearly a Crore to its credit. Inching towards 10,000 show mark and 20 Cr while the gross in release centers at 19.40 Cr . Block buster

4. Airlift
The patriotic film for the right time , Republic day. Started at low occupancy due to lack of fan base for Akshaykumar but picked up two days later by grace of good WOM. Release strategy in Kerala was not even 50 screens available. Collects around 85 lakhs which is actually splendid considering number of screens.

5. Failed attempts

Not a movie name but those seven odd films which went unnoticed at box office in Mollywood so far.  While Style survived films like Malgudi days , Mansoon Mangoes suffered heavily at box office. There are some films which are low budget one like Rendu Penkuttikkal etc but cinema viewers are showing lack of interest in it. Why cant Kerala Govt exempt certain film from taxes? This week release Jalam one of its kind. Many of the states in India grants tax exemptions to the films but Kerala Govt always reluctant. Film industries generate revenues to the local bodies and in return Government should show some kind of gesture from their part.
