Friday Matinee - Velli Moonga - Super Hit

The dramatic week passed with anti climax. The big releases with their astonishing opening gave way to a small and low budgeted film to the harvest of holiday audiences that too, to the film in its second week. Yes, Biju menon starrer Velli moonga is the new sensation at Mollywood. It is getting uninterrupted support in weekend and week days with stunning returns. The film capitalized the holidays from Thursday to Monday and collected around 3.25 Cr in those 5 days alone. Occupancy is good and excellent in majority of its release center and collected a 6.50 crore net in 14 days. The film is profitable in theater run itself and aiming high at box office. Super hit as of now with revenue it generates. The way it behaves at box office we may see it end up in 100 % profit at box office by theater run itself. Though it had some removals and reduction in show due to wide release of Bang Bang and Tamar Padaar the mixed WOM of these films ultimately helped in gaining more shows than charted. Presently it is super strong. This week no challenge at box office so Moonga going to sweep the weekend alone.

Bang Bang had the widest release in Kerala and proved right till the weekend and thereafter collapsed like heavily. The huge opening is the result of the hype created around Hrithwik Roshan. The Kerala contributed 2.80 Crore till its first weekend to the total national tally which has crossed 100 Cr.

Tamar Padaar as viewed in last week blog fails to give hatrick hit to Prithviraj who has been at the height of his career with consecutive hits. Got of to below average to avoidable WOM but later viewers are giving a better WOM than the initial one. It had reasonably good opening day but has been slowing down since the day one. The box office fate is almost sealed and it�s a flop at B.O with meagre collection of 1.80 Crore in 6 days.

Money Rathnam though faced massive removals due to new release occupies around 40 screens with reduced shows in several centers . Adds 70 lakhs to its tally and the total is at 2.35 Cr

Sapthamasree Thaskara is at 8,000 shows mark. In its fifth week and collection has been dipped due to several removals and is lucky to get some come back with the failure of Tammar Paddar. Collects around 10.80 Cr.

Four small films in theater today, Asha Black Pershyakaran , Ithihasa, 100 degree Celsius. 2014 tells us these kinds of films which have been released with prior marketing, have gone unnoticed so far. Homely meals released in last week through LJ films could not defeat the pressure of hold over even after getting good WOM. So what will be the fate of these ones is just an answer in the plate. Asha balck has high budget and marketed better. When we call Biju menon film small, we should call these films tinny ones, isn�t it?
