The way Mollywood was progressing in the first half 2014 it looked as if the total film released in the year may over take the all time record of last year with big margin. But it now certain Mollywood may not cross last year figures of 158 films. Rather it may be touch and go affair and likely to fall short by two or three films. As of now with today�s release it will be around 146 Mollywood film released in 2014. Imagine the money spoiled in the glitter and glamour business as very few films escaped at box office .
Four release of last week. Angels gets better WOM among Malayalam movies and Kavyathaivan treated as classic film in recent years of Tamil movies.
Mailanji Monjulla Veedu provides much needed breather for actor Jayaram who is going through the worst period of his career. It is not big hit but is not disaster like other movies of this actor in 2014. WOM is of masala entertainment with script of Sibi � Udhaya. It had widest release in eight plus screens. This prompted this film get back handsome box office collection considering the pathetic run of other Jayaram films. It has collected 2.25 Cr in 6 days
Mathayi Kuzhappa Karanalla confirm one more chance lost for Jayasurya at box office. Collected poultry 90 lakhs. Below average WOM and collection
Angels has good thriller WOM but the marketed at low key level and even the releasing in around 50 screens giving it lack of box office punch. Collects around 85 lakhs.
Kavya Thaliaven though struggles at box office. Earns good word in the critic circles.
Surprising disaster of the season is The Dolphins. Confused the way it fell within a week.
Varsham occupied major cities screens in around 20 in number with many screens with reduced shows and adds further 25 lakhs and total collection stands at gross of 5.60 Cr in 28 days with 5,300 shows.
Iyobinte Pusthakam is faring better than expected in last two weeks and show count is inching towards 6,000 mark and had around thirty plus screens with reduced shows to its credit in fourth week. Collection is around 5.80 Cr in 27 days.
Bollywood film Action Jackson sweeps the releasing with count of around 75 today while Mollywood films are failing to get enough screens even though there is lack of huge hits in town.
Seconds ran in to controversy due to its non release finally showed the light out of box. FDFS report of poor attendance but good making. Super WOM spreading. Hope it will turn around the table by next week by becoming a hit
