Friday Matinee -The Bumper week of Kasaba

Mollywood is having bumper Eid run. Approx 11 Crore business in from Wednesday to Friday for the all the new release. Great days are ahead.  

Kerala Top  movies as on 09/07/2016

1. Kasaba

This Megastar mass movie has taken Kerala box office by storm. After huge first day the film performed excellently on second day as well keeping the industrial pundit in a state of disbelief. Normally the mass movies used to face severe drop of thirty to forty percentage on day but this movie has turn in to an exception. Director Nithin Renji Panicker fills the vacuum of a mass action director. The so called present day new generation debutants adopted safe and soft route for the entry in to Mollywood but this young man recreates the heavy dose heroism of late nineties for his grand debut. Mammooty passes through one of the best ever box office days. The movie collected whopping 3.60 Cr in two days which is gigantic by any means. No doubt this film is heading for a record opening weekend of 7 Cr. We may have first genuine block buster of 2016 if this trend extends for entire week. Blockbuster opening

2. Shajahanum Pareekuttyum

Though WOM is mixed this Boban Samuel comedy is playing second fiddle to Kasaba at box office with decent occupancy.  The extra one day in the release is a shot in arm for this Kunchako Boban � jayasurya- Amala Paul flick. This film has collected an approx 2.95 Cr in three days. Good opening

3. Sultan

Salman Khan has created record in India in 2016 by raking up 100 Cr in three days and Kerala has its own share too in this by grossing 1.65 Cr in three days. Had a very good first day taking it consideration that it was released in around 50 screens only. Super opening

4. Anuraga Karikkin Vellam

Amidst the all the hue and cry of two biggies this film is rated as feel good movie which can appeal to the family audience. The presence of Biju Menon � Asha Sharath pair with Asif Ali along with a reputed production company, August film. The film has taken slow start but the good thing to report is that it is actually picking up. As far as WOM wise this film stands better than other contemporary ones. Collected around 1.25 Cr from around 77 screens in two days. Average opening

5. Karinkunnam sixes

Mass , Comedy , Family movies from Malayalam so why can�t we have a sports film to complete the Eid race ! Manju Warrier as the volley ball coach in a spirited sports film. Sidelined by other films. Still doubtful whether it can succeed because of a poor way of releasing. Roughly fifty odd screens and many of them are small ones. But has average WOM, how it can generate collection is the question mark ! Having below average opening with 1 Cr so far in three days

Kasaba -Earth shattering opening

Whenever Megastar Mammootty does a mass film the frenzy response at box office is guaranteed. If he goes for marana mass what will be the result? Kasaba has the accurate answer for it. Earth shattering! It was in 2014 his fans were roaring at theaters with joy through Rajadhi Rajanow yet one more time we are witnessing highly charged atmosphere!

Kasaba  is a perfect example on how to utilities Mammootty�s stardom. From fiery dialogues to breath taking actions Mammootty brightly shines through the silver screen. With record opening teaser the hype were there to make the crowd throng to the theaters and the on the D day it was flood of house full shows across Kerala. In around 115 screens film opened to mixed reviews. Fans were in over joy state indicating that it�s a film for his fans. They are giving it superb rating while others opts for average to above average. The initial reports suggest that the film has taken up an earth shattering opening by collecting gross of 1.92 Cr in Kerala. This is Mega star�s best opening day collection in his 36 year old career. 

The film is expected to do a fantastic 6.20 Cr to 6 .40 Cr collections in the first four days. Moreover the films first week prospects at B O is positive since the competing films also have average opinion only.

Shajahanum Pareekuttyium - Excellent Opening

Molywood is back to its festivity with four films on Eid . Two of them yesterday and the rest Today. To add more flavors to the feast Salman Khan's Sultan from Bollywood. Director Boban Samuel's get together with his hit films heroes Kunchako Boban of Romans and Jayasurya of Janapriyan through Shajahanum Pareekuttiyum . Eid holiday crowd gave it first preference among the releases thus film posed an excellent opening through out Kerala. Released in around 90 screens the film has more than 80% occupancy and several houseful shows. Many screens and Multiplexes had several shows than normal four shows in a day. 

 The film has collected an excellent 1.45 Cr on the first day which is highly positive start for the makers. The WOM is mixed but the comedy in the film likely to help at box office.  Though second day it has witnessed some reductions in shows today due to massive release of  Megastar Mammootty's Kasaba

Breaking News : Puli Murugan set for the release !

Puli Murugan which was scheduled for Eid initially was put on hold due to non completion of post production work . Latest inside input is now that  October 6th release has been confirmed by the team which means the movie will have extended holidays in form of Navarathri and Muharram.

 

The movie has been in the news for nearly two years and shooting schedule extended period of near one year. It has been considered as the highest budgeted Malayalam movie of the recent time . More over the makers wanted to release in big way across globe . The delay in release had adverse reaction among fans.

IDI Teaser - Jayasurya in action

Versatile actor Jayasurya has a special place in Mollywood among the younger generation audience. The innocent characters to next door man is the stamp of this young talented man. Not forgetting some negative characters such as one in Iyoibinte Pusthakam etc. His timing in comedy roles is treat to watch. But can't find too many roles in mass masala movies. IDI is going to be one of its kind . The teaser splash us the Kola mass Inspector Dawood Ibrahim. The title of movie which is short form of the title role denotes its IDI completely IDI. The scenes are full of action to the core. Jayasurya looks dashing in his police outfit.

The one minute five seconds teaser is superbly cut with terrific BGM by Rahul Raj . Action sequences are similar of Kollywood to Bollywood style. The Mollywood lacks action movies after it transgressed in to new generation mood. This film may bring new set of 'old' formula of total action oriented films. We always love when our hero thrashes the villain. Here Our Jayan is countering too many. Let us wait for the big release. Trailer rated - Average

Happy Wedding - Mega Hit

This is truly outstanding! Happy weddinghas passed one more important mile stone which is rarest of rare feet for small budgeted films. 8 Cr and 8,000 shows!! The film has completed wonderful 42 days and is presently running around 75 screens. The film holds on all the screens for last three weeks and it enters to seventh week. Only in exceptional bumper hit scenario  a film used to get the luxury of 70 plus screen in the sixth week but this film has even crossed over to seventh week as many as centers possible. The collection at the end of sixth week is 8.60 Cr which can be sum up as the extra ordinary performance during a tougher period of the box office season. Mouth publicity is the winner here. Comedy sells best in Mollywood because majority of us believe cinema is for entertainment. More you entertain more you succeed.  Mega Hit of second quarter of 2016.

The film set to fly overseas screens from next week onward. The GCC release is scheduled for Eid release and hope it will reap the harvest of the holiday audience in gulf.

Anuraga Karikkin Vellam - Teaser - a warm feeling

Mollywood is in the process of mass entry of debut directors but very few could make a mark in the box office. One of the leading production company August cinema entrust the baton of direction to a new boy ,Khalid Rahman. The script is by Naveen Bhasker .If you go by trailer we can summarize easily they are not wrong. The trailer of 1 minute 52 seconds is full of freshness. Asif Ali who is in the lead is desperate for a box office hit gives us controlled performance. Biju Menon as usual excellent.

The trailer has introduced entire leading star cast by connecting it well. Prashanth Pillai's BGM is also add extra boost to the mood of the trailer.The frames of Jimshi Khalid attractive.
The entire technical side is by new entrant and the producers might have given shoe laced budget to make it economical in cost but profitable through theater run. The August cinema is going through one of the toughest period in their production career. It is rumoured that they have to settle huge amount in Double Barrel account to some of the theater owners.
All in all trailer is rated: good.
